017. Heads or tails?
Today’s edition includes curation from @scottco (he’s a machine, folks). Our cover design was provided courtesy of @neverwelcome
Howdy there partners,
How’d you all like our first @BitsTODAY special edition yesterday? And how’d we do in our first Clubhouse room last night? We’d love to hear from you, whether in our comments, DMs, our discord (here), by smoke signal, carrier pigeon, telekinetic vibes … we’re all 👂.
Another big update; We’re pleased to announce that starting in May, the top 10 investors in @BitsTODAY will be entitled to a reoccurring monthly sponsored post in one of our daily editions. They will be eligible to keep this ad placement for as long as they remain in the top 10. New project to tease? Delicious meme not getting enough love? We’ll work with you to make it sing. All you have to do is buy moar $BitsTODAY until you hit that top 10 baby.
For today, we’re back with a good ol’ fashioned deep dive on big stories from the last 24. Ready to take the plunge? 💀

#1 BuzzClout
First things first. In partnership with @bitcloutsignal, here’s an exclusive look at today’s numbers:
#2 Ubiquitous UX drops
Video killed the cloutio star
Believe it or not, we’re still in the front-half of a week that @maebeam promised would include drops every. damn. day. Today’s big drop? Well… video (and the first rick roll) of course!
To get a step ahead of all these UX drops, luckily for us (and very luckily for them), a select group of @craig’s top investors had a call with @diamondhands yesterday evening. The semblance of a roadmap surrounding future drops emerged from the call (public post courtesy of @Fungibles):
At this point, we wonder if open source everything is coming in a matter of weeks rather than months.
Embed all over.
In the interim, another project not from the BitClout dev team that caught our eye is @buildclout. @buildclout, founded by @sabby and @felpsio, will develop a whole host of tools and products for BitClout. Last night, they announced the v1 of a widget that will allow creators to embed and promote their creator coins off platform.
The @buildclout team also shared an exclusive look at the v2 widget with us at @BitsTODAY:
As BitClout matures, this type of functionality will be huge for creators who want to make their on-platform work more visible off-platform. To see what a simple version of your widget could look like, just nav to embedclout.com.
Here’s a quote from the @buildclout team on their vision and progress:
I have startup roots, and I’m a big believer in creating value. Being a YCombinator alum, I stand by the motto of making something people want. Unfortunately, being a marketer, I see very closely how it’s about being the loudest/how good you are at sales compared to providing real value. These widgets can be the stamp that gives social proof to customers and help make the decision easier to buy a course, hire a freelancer, etc. -Sabby
#3 Head or tails? Flipping creator coins
In case you missed our Clubhouse session last night and generally weren’t on-platform much yesterday at all, you can now send creator coins directly to other accounts.
This grants creators more flexibility as far as remunerating investors, collaborators, contest winners, ducks, and whomever or whatever else is concerned. Friends can also more easily help onboard other friends to the platform.
As with almost anything on BitClout however, the ability to send creator coins can be used in nefarious ways, too. The immediate manifestations of this yesterday was described by @nigeleccles succinctly as a classic example of “great technology enabling bad behavior.” Specifically, @scottco laid out a critical new type of scam facilitated by coin transfers:
This exact problem could be mitigated if coin transfers and investments are distinguished on creator coin cap tables (e.g. with small blue check-mark esque labels, for instance), as noted by @nathamaton in our Clubhouse room last night. Still, the broader point here is that with every new release, there will be a slew of derivative updates that could be made and new implications (good & bad) for clouters to unpack and explore. Simpler days on BitClout are behind us, for better or for worse.
#4 Up & Coming Creators
Happy 🐪 day folks. Besides marking the point in the Sisyphean, traditional work week where things tilt closer to the weekend again, at @BitsTODAY we’ve gotten in a good rhythm of blessing you with Up & Coming creators on Wednesdays. And in a world as wild as BitClout, a little consistency is good sometimes. Here are stellar creators who caught our eye this week:
@amritpaldesign: Are you exhausted from winner-take-all treasure hunts, eyes bloodshot from the hours of reading and interpreting clues? Here’s something different that’s easier on the eye. These fun, toy-like illustrations are the work of Amrit Pal Singh, an NFT Artist who clearly has a talent for creating these lovely toy faces. According to @amritpaldesign:
“I have tried several businesses in the last 9 years. Launched 2 mobile apps, a merchandise store, 2 card games, and a directory platform. With 12 product hunt launches and 2 full-time positions. Who knew making toy-like illustrations and having fun would trump them all.”
@barbiegraveyard that you? I can’t tell if th… nevermind.
@david_khas: David Khas is a Russian artist focused on illustrating characters that include elements of both the past and the future. David shared with us that he had to pawn his Playstation to mint his first NFT, and that he worked in construction before his wife inspired him to take his art full-time. Here’s a quote from David that we loved:
“To be honest, I don’t even remember how I learned to draw, it feels like I always knew how”
@david_khas recently dropped his first artworks on Foundation, and is new to the BitClout community. Let’s give him a warm welcome, yes?
Full disclosure: @nvo bought @david_khas’s first NFT on rarible + owns his creator coin (editor’s note: cool flex nvo... -ASG)
@Novoto: @Novoto is a German artist who works on concepts including movement, lightning and shapes. @Novoto shared that they enjoy abstract and colorful animations with a strong focus on visual storytelling. Frankly, we could watch their visuals all day.
#5 General Absurdity
Covering the general absurdity on BitClout has always been a part of the @BitsTODAY ethos. It says it right there in our tagline. We noticed recently that we’ve been perhaps a bit lite on the absurdity, heavy on the ‘harder’ news. Today, we’ll look to reverse that a bit. Here are some tantalizingly absurd (mostly absurdly dope) things we’ve seen across the platform recently:
As New York City re-opens, the apocalyptic images from this time last year of a completely empty Midtown are fortunately a distant memory. With New Yorkers back in the parks, bars, and Times Square, many of them will be graced by … creator coin @ handles on Saturday?
Today, @MOGULMOGUL confirmed this mega OOH ad buy is on for Saturday, with final designs in the works and the top 5 creator coin holders to be featured locked in (including @chingonETH, @connormitchell, @pingu_ventures, @kingclout, and @AlecUdell).
If anyone’s got boots on the ground in NY, we’d love to see as many pics of confused non-clout-native on-lookers as possible 😂.
We’re also excited to highlight a huge opportunity for aspiring BitClout devs, influencers, and meme accounts alike. Nothing like a little friendly competition for real clout:
Organized by @shubhang, lucky clouters will have a once in a lifetime chance to pitch their projects to heavyweight BitVCs like @artz and @THETALENTFUNDII starting next week. @shubhang provided @BitsTODAY with some more details as follows:
All projects in the early stage or in pre-launch phase are eligible
The first prize is $10K in CC and a 1–1 session with the VCs
Notion link for submissions → bit.ly/3gHHVWn
What’s absurd about this? A month ago, it would have been damn near impossible for you to get a pitch meeting with a partner at Social Capital (let alone basically overnight). In the clout-iverse however, it seems anything is possible.
This concludes another edition of @BitsTODAY. We hope you’re happy, healthy, and having a good time in whatever your respective niche of the clout is.
