080. @gwynethpaltrow, nice of you to join us.
G’day m8ts,
Another week dawns on BitClout. We’ve probably seen the ‘calm before the storm’ reference made 10,000 times since we got on BitClout in April… but that’s how things feel again ⛈️😂. We reckon this is going to be a juicy week — so we’re glad the weekend gave us a chance to catch our breath 💆. As always, we’ve still got that good-good for ya below 👇.
Bits on the menu tonight:
BuzzClout: Exclusive updates from @bitcloutsignal and @bithunt ⚡️
Ubiquitous UX drops: the community keeps chipping away 🪓
Roadmap update 🛣️: 💎🙌 lets us know he’s listening
Gas on the fire ⛽🔥: Pepper Potts joins BitClout… kind of? 🤔
*Special op-ed*: @Matreshka tackles verification with love ✔️❤️
Diamondhands’ drops 💎
#1 BuzzClout
How we doin’, @bitcloutsignal? What should we know about today as far as the creator coin side of the cloutiverse is concerned 🌌?
Same goes for you, @bithunt? Which community projects were making strides today? 👀
#2 Ubiquitous UX drops: the community keeps chipping away 🪓
As we noted in our preamble, today wasn’t the busiest day ever for BitClout. Still, the omnipresent @tijn did give us advanced visibility into a UX update that has since officially gone live. What’s the update? ‘Share posts’!
Been waiting for an easier way to slam all of @HuntSauce’s memes into your homies iMessages? Your prayers have been answered 🙏. If you wanna give it a spin, nav over to BitClout on mobile, find a post, and use the menu button in the top right corner to select “Share Post”. This will pull up an array of options, such as embedding the link directly in a text or iMessages 💬.
This update is another one that was recommended and made by the community via the clout improvement protocol (“CIP”) process. It stands as a testament to the fact that there’s a ton every one of us can do to advance the BitClout platform ourselves 💪.
Another small update on the design side of bitclout.com? Creator coin cap tables just got a lil’ bit better lookin’, and include more info (such as % of ownership on a coin by coin holder basis) 🤤:
Even what may seem like small changes can lay the foundation necessary to get BitClout ready for an influx of new users who will land here as @diamondhands and team start pulling more marketing and PR levers 🔜. If new users arrive and see that basic features that they’ve gotten used to on other platforms don’t exist here, they might bounce back to the old musty confines of Twitter or Instagram. There’s never a bad time to build … but now is definitely an ESPECIALLY good time to do it 🧱🏗️.
#3 Roadmap update 🛣️: Poppa 💎🙌 lets us know he’s listening
ICYMI, @FastFreddie provided lots of updates on the near-term BitClout roadmap over the weekend, quickly growing into his role as spokesperson for the core team as well as catalyst for growth on the platform. If you’re looking to catch up, our edition 079 summarized a lot of the key takeaways for you.
Today? @diamondhands himself came back to let us know that yes — he and his team are very much still around, and they see the questions, concerns, and probably also the memes that we have. Here’s his latest communiqué 📜:
While scant on new details, the above from @diamondhands is important because it lets us KNOW that (i) they’re cognizant the community needs more updates on their plan for phase 2 as well as how things are going and (ii) there are more big updates that we don’t even know about around the corner! Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, @diamondhands used the big ‘T’ word that many of us have been calling for —✨ transparency✨. Last week we ourselves put out a big special edition calling for more transparency on a number of key fronts (see here), including total $clout distribution.
@diamondhands post confirms what we learned from @FastFreddie yesterday, namely that there’s an outside PR agency that will be helping the core team knock phase 2 out of the park 📢. Of course, we’re sure we’ll all ‘inevitably’ still be able to see @diamondhands diamond fingerprints on lots of the communications that go out 😉. Let’s close with the money shot from his post above to really underscore it 🚀:
…it’s only a matter of time before the market understands how inevitable all of this is
(^^^Tattoo this across our chest.)
Of course, there’s no task time-intensive enough in the world to keep @diamondhands from taking 60 seconds to bid on the newest PAMMIES NFT from @pamelaanderson. Can’t blame him 🥵.
#4 Gas on the fire ⛽🔥: Pepper Potts (aka Gwyneth Paltrow) joins BitClout… kind of? 🤔
Yesterday, the community got fired up to see @gwynethpaltrow, who claimed her BitClout account on Twitter more than a month ago at this point, post for the first time on BitClout. In fact, she showed remarkable early engagement, interacting with @drkatcohen’s NFT which offers up a chance to ask @diamondhands a question at the tête-à-tête the two will have soon.
While we’re all eager to see gas on the fire ⛽🔥 and for high profile individuals like @ReeseW and @gwynethpaltrow join our ranks on the front lines of BitClout, it does seem like @gwynethpaltrow’s entrance here had to have been pre-coordinated. Perhaps she’s friends with @drkatcohen? Perhaps she had questions for @diamondhands and he noted that @drkatcohen’s NFT could be a good, ‘formal’ entry point to get his ear? 👂. It’s hard for us to say concretely.
There is some speculation that @gwynethpaltrow’s account isn’t… exactly being run by her. Of course, there are lots of celebrities on BitClout already where we expect this is the case. But after some investigation, @tijn seems to think she’s either in close coordination with the core team as we alluded to earlier, or they’re actually speaking directly through her account:
Maybe @gwynethpaltrow is just trying to keep a low profile before she takes up her role as @diamondhands sidekick, after performing that role for Iron Man admirably. Maybe she’s going to be super active here and she’s just extra extra eager to ask @diamonhands a few questions about his vision, hence the bid on @drkatcohen’s NFT. We’ll have to wait and see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
For now… @gwynethpaltrow, let us know when you’re ready to come on our podcast 🤗. We promise we’re a good time 🥳.
#5 *Special op-ed*: @Matreshka tackles verification with love ✔️❤️
This op-ed was contributed by @Matreshka, a long-standing and tireless champion of the BitClout community. There has been a lot of discussion of verification ✔️ on BitClout recently and we found her perspective valuable. Thanks for your words, @Matreshka!
I have been active on BitClout basically from the beginning when the Russian speaking community got onboarded in late March. After a few weeks however, I lost interest as I didn’t see much engagement at all on my posts. Fortunately, a few weeks later I returned to check-in on how BitClout was doing and stumbled on the very first day of the @nachoaverage zoom call, which has now been live for months 🤯. (Special thanks to @clayoglesby for sharing that first link with me and @clayperrymusic for creating this beautiful experiment). The @nachoaveragecall became a place where I felt welcome that also brought the community together and shared my love for helping people feel seen, heard, and understood ❤️.
BitClout as a whole also cares about the people who bring value to the platform. Many social media sites would only verify people who reach 50k followers or who are already famous. BitClout recognizes people who put in work and who show that they care about the platform and the people on here. It verifies folks for their organic value creation. I am not famous outside of BitClout. I got recognized for my involvement with the community on the @nachoaveragecall and later as a winner of a @cloutted contest that inspired dozens of creators to share their amazing stories with all of us and to be vulnerable. I also provided a lot of feedback and ideas to @ProsperClout and was amazed when @SalilSethi added me to the list of ProsperClout ‘heroes’.
While there’s a lot of contention currently about the verification process, and while the process to get verified should definitely be a lot more clear, I am glad that I got verified because it shows other active users who bring value to the platform that we can be seen and heard. @diamondhands and the people on the core team are very busy building the blockchain and bitclout.com, but they still pay more attention to what we are up to than we think 💡. Especially at its early stage, this platform does care about the creators who are here right now. Sometimes it just takes time and patience before this becomes apparent.
If you are reading this, I want you to know that if you believe in this platform and you keep bringing value to people — you will get verified on the official node too! We shouldn’t just wait for it to happen. We can make it happen. If we want better verification guidelines, we should outline them as a community and come up with a proposal 🤝. We are all the leaders of BitClout, not just 💎🙌:
Thank you to everyone who helped me, from @bruhmoments to @alinaferry and the node admins @sjg and @topaz + everyone else working behind the scenes.
To the moon 🌙 together 🚀 with love ️ ❤️
@Matreshka
That does it for us today, folks. Get some rest — things are gonna keep heatin’ up around here we reckon. Peace and love ❤.
