XX5. Big Brain Series: A Diamond a Dozen
A BitsTODAY x Neurally x BitcloutSignal collaboration series. Tonight we take a closer look at the pretty little diamonds.
You’ve been waiting. Even in the cold, dark moments of the $clout bear market, we know you’ve held strong 🥶. And your dedication? It will be rewarded. Right now, in fact.
We’re pleased to bring you the second edition in our BIG BRAIN series 🧠. That’s right, @BitsTODAY, @Neurally and @bitcloutsignal are back in town, folks. Giddy up 🤠.
Today’s exploration is going to be all about everyone’s favorite rock. Since we’ve started spending time on BitClout, diamonds aren’t just a girl’s best friend. No, now they’re the treasured tip for all genders, 🐋s, 🦍s, trading degens, and bots alike.
Yes, we like to joke and make fun in our @BitsTODAY intros. But 💎s could also become a serious income stream for creators. Perhaps even life changing for some. It bears remembering that nearly half the world lives on ~$6 a day or less. That’s just one four-tier diamond based on current prices! Some folks are tossing that around on BitClout like it’s a hot potato. @cloutato we should say.
For more discussion of the value all 💎s can have, keep your eyes peeled for the second installment of this series of special editions on diamonds. To start however, we want to go big however. We’re talking 5 and 6-tier diamond big. King and queen sh*t 👑.
Leveraging @bitcloutsignal data, @Neurally compiled the following visually stunning ‘networks’ that display 5 and 6-tier diamond activity on BitClout, starting with genesis and running through June 19th.
Alright, it LOOKS dope. But what IS it? If you were afraid of asking a silly question, rest assured, @BitsTODAY already posed all of them to @Neurally.
This network visualizes all 5-tier diamond transactions on BitClout. Each node in the network represents a creator who either received or sent 5 diamonds to another node (or both). While hard to see when zoomed out, there are arrows on the node-connectors that define the direction of the diamond flow.
Alright, another important definition. In network analysis, degree centrality measures the ‘prominence’ of a node (in this case a creator) by analyzing how many neighbors the node has. The more you participate in a network, in this case the more creators you are connected to in 5-tier diamond transactions, the closer to the center of the visualized network you will be.
One last definition :) (we promise). The above chart focuses on “in-degree” centrality specifically, which scales the size of the nodes based on the number of ‘in-bound’ transactions (as opposed to the outbound ones). So the creators with the largest nodes are those receiving the most 5-tier diamonds. They’re the lucky ones 🍀.
Let’s isolate the @BitsTODAY node in this graph here for a minute to get a better sense of what’s going on. All eyes on us baby! (we’ve got nothing to hide, we’re running a tight ship over here after all… 🏴☠️ ).
The first step taken by @Neurally here to make the network a bit more comprehensible was to exclude all nodes except those within two degrees of separation of @BitsTODAY. Zooming in further, here’s a close up look at the action. As you can see, there’s a ton of activity going on here, even in a small, pared down version of the network 👀.
Looks like @BitsTODAY and @ASG have carved out a humble space for themselves, a quant three-bedroom house out on the northwest suburbs of denser parts of the overall network where the bigger 🐋s like @JakeUdell and @douglass are swimming. That ought to be a nice quiet place for @ASG to raise his kids 👶.
So… having focused on recipients of diamonds first, shall we now give some props to the generous gifters of diamonds? I think yes:
The above now renders the network to focus on “out-degree centrality,” flipping the switch to focus on outbound diamond transactions. While the network map looks the same, now node size is scaled to reward the generous 🤲 and malevolent 🐋s of BitClout, who happily splash other creators with 💎s.
Some of the major players whose nodes increase in size here include @RajLahoti and @diamondhands. In fact, let’s have a quick look at @diamondhands role in this network, taking the same measures we did earlier when we honed in on @BitsTODAY in the in-degree version of the network:
Again, this version of the network is both zoomed in and excludes all nodes except those within two degrees of separation from @diamondhands. Looks like a lot of folks are tryna get @maebeam’s attention there bottom center 😬😬😬. @JakeUdell’s node is incredibly active too, even besting @diamondhands’ in size. We see you @JakeUdell 😤💪!
What happens if we turn our attention to the vaunted 6-tier diamond network? As you might expect, things get a bit more sparse. Considering the transaction count falls off considerably, the network is much less dense, with less mutual connections forming a far less dense ‘web’ 🕷️.
Still, there are plenty of 6-tier diamond transactions for us to visualize here.
One benefit of a less dense network is that we can more easily zoom in and put transactions between a variety of creators under our microscope 🔬 without also excluding nodes that are more than two degrees of separation removed from each other. For instance, in this in-degree centrality map, let’s have a look at one active set of nodes centered around @diamondhands:
The size of @diamondhands’ node indicates he has been the recipient of a relatively high number of 6-tier diamond transactions. The @diamondhands’ node is also connected to a number of other highly recognizable account names like @lazynina, @helenowen, @MarioNawfal, @HappyDuck, @Memes, and @maebeam, who has a large node of her own. All pretty mind-blowing to visualize, ain’t it? 🤯

In closing, these networks from @Neurally aren’t just easy on the eyes. They’re a powerful way to visualize which players are at the core of transactions on BitClout, the movers and shakers incentivizing building, creativity, and rewarding other creators for the same. And remember, there’s no hiding your transactions on the blockchain 😉. @Neurally will find you if he wants to. And he will hunt 🏹 … just kidding.
And while 3 and 4-tier diamond networks might be absolutely insane to try and fit into one visual, who knows, maybe we can convince @Neurally to give it a whirl… no promises.
For now, we’ll let you explore and zoom in on these visuals to your heart’s content. We hope you enjoyed! Any thanks you’d pay to us should go to @Neurally and @bitcloutsignal for all the data and data work that went into this.
Thank you for tuning in,
@BitsTODAY 💎
